Brahma Kamal, King of Himalayan flower, Saussurea obvallata

The flower of Lord Brahma also known as King of Himalayan flower. Very lucky if u see it bloom. It is a rare flower and blooms only at midnight and typically once in a years !!

The Brahma Kamal, a member of the Sunflower Family, is an excellent example of plant life at the upper limit of high mountains (3,000 to 4,600 meters).

but don know how it happend here in Bangalore(India).

The plant is considered an herb in Tibetan medicine. Its name is Sah-du Goh-ghoo. It has a bitter taste, promotes heat. Used to treat paralysis of the limbs and cerebral ischemia. The entire plant is used. It is endangered because people are cutting it down for their own use, it is found in the region of the Himalayas.

It comes out of its leaf insted of stem or branch. It has a very charming fragnance. Lucky to have seen one. :)
